POSITION TITLE: Volunteer Associate Director
Job Purpose: Develop and implement policies and procedures for utilizing and maintaining volunteers; utilize volunteers to their fullest potential to achieve NAC mission.
Term: 1 year
Reports to: Board of Directors
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement volunteer policies and procedures for all volunteers and volunteer managers.
- Recruit, orient, interview & place volunteers.
- Work with all NAC Associate Directors and program coordinators/volunteers to update volunteer job descriptions as necessary.
- Counsel NAC Associate Directors and program coordinators/volunteers with volunteer policies and volunteer management issues.
- Develop and maintain current job descriptions for and recruit and train Volunteer Program coordinators and volunteers.
- Document and evaluate volunteer service hours.
- Serve as a role model to encourage staff to know and utilize volunteers as a team.
- Recognize volunteer efforts.
- Staff day-of- event volunteers for major fundraisers and events.
- Maintain an active bank of volunteers to assist with NAC programs.
- Act as a liaison with Associate Directors/program coordinators and other volunteers to resolve volunteer grievances.
- Maintain professional contact with other volunteer managers.
- Be able to devote the time necessary to complete the position’s responsibilities.
- Volunteer experience with NAC in a variety of programs or other similar experience.
- Dedication to NAC’s mission.
- Good organizational and planning skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work well with and motivate a variety of people.
- Past experience in project management, program development and/or management.
- Access to a computer and e-mail.
- Proficient in word processing.
POSITION TITLE: Education Associate DirectorJob Purpose: to develop and implement a education program that will serve the purpose of the NAC mission to promote responsible pet ownership and increase funding and grant opportunities by providing programs that benefit children.Term: 1 year Reports to: Board of Directors
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, direct and develop NAC education program that will meet its mission and purpose of educating the public on responsible pet ownership.
- Conduct community outreach for the educational program.
- Responsible for ensuring program curricula meet proposed and received grant guidelines and requirements.
- Responsible for coordinating promotional and informational materials that accomplish NAC’s educational purpose for all NAC events.
- Work with the Treasurer and Fundraising Committee to develop an education program budget and monitor income and expenditures for all education activities to ensure adherence to the budget.
- Ensure that complete and accurate records of all donors are compiled and submitted in a timely manner to the Secretary to maintain.
- Responsible for ensuring that NAC builds a relationship with the community, schools, community groups, etc. and ensuring that education activities are communicated to the community and membership.
- Develop and maintain education program policies and procedures.
- Ensure that Policies and Procedures (including coordinators/volunteer job descriptions) are in place for the education programs with appropriate documentation.
- Recruit and train education coordinators/volunteers in their respective program area.
- Supervise education volunteers and work with Volunteer AD to resolve volunteer management issues.
- Submit information to the Public Relations AD/team in a timely manner to ensure effective media coverage of all events and work closely with Public Relations AD/team in creating fundraising promotional materials.
Qualifications:
- Be able to devote the time necessary to complete the position’s responsibilities.
- Strong planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Have experience in program development or teaching or working with children.
- Dedication to the NAC Mission.
- Experience volunteering with NAC and generally knowledgeable about its programs.
- Excellent personal relations skills and ability to work with varied and diverse group of individuals including volunteers, individual and corporate donors.
