The Sanctuary
![]()
NAC received the generous gift of 200 acres of land in North Boise!
The land was donated by a caring supporter to help move us one giant step closer to our dream: an expansive sanctuary for homeless and abandoned animals to live safely and comfortably until they find their permanent families; a state of the art, ecologically friendly facility to house a low-cost spay/neuter clinic; a warm, welcoming retreat for adults and children to meet with animals and take them for strolls along the sanctuary nature paths; a place to engage in the many activities offered through our education programs that aim to foster the bond between humans and animals. The sanctuary will truly be a place of refuge for both companion animals and the community.
This dream is now within reach. NAC is seeking sponsorship and financial support from members of the community to begin the building phase of the sanctuary. With the breaking of ground on our first building, we will be joining a growing number of forward-looking, no-kill communities who share the compassionate goal of eliminating euthanasia as an acceptable form of population control.
Compassion and respect for all life goes beyond caring for the animals; it also requires concern for the environment. NAC has planned the buildings and surrounding areas with passive solar energy and an earth sheltered concept, which employs the earth as a major component of a building’s thermal control system. The Foothills of Boise offer a wealth of natural appeal, and NAC is committed to preserving this natural integrity.
Creature Comfort
We have also designed the buildings to be a cozy and comfortable spot for cats and dogs to be while they wait to find their permanent place in someone’s life. Click on the link below for the floorplans of our first few buildings at Almost Home.
