Success Stories
Starry Sparkle - I know a lot of folks wouldn’t waste time caring for a kitten with Feline Leukemia, but this little girl wasn’t ready to go. She was found in a parking lot of an apartment complex. The owners admitted to not wanting to feed her anymore, so they threw her outside to fend for herself. When she came to us, through a good Samaritan, she had her adult teeth, indicating she was at least 6 months old, but weighed as much as a 14 week old kitten. She was ill with an Upper Respiratory Infection and the Vet said realistically, she should be euthanized… but this pitiful little creature was purring and rubbing, so we opted to give her some time.
Time an love was all she needed! This little girl has turned around and is doing 100% better! She does have Feline Leukemia which will likely shorten the length of her life, but for now she is healthy and enjoys begging loves from anyone who will dish them out!
She has been adopted by a wonderful family that only adopts Leukemia cats. When they came to pick her up, the little girl (pictured) took one look at her and said, “Her name is Starry Sparkle!”
Now that is a success story!
Buster and Chloe - We aren’t limited to just cats and dogs! Sometimes, we have pigs! That’s right, pot-bellied pigs. When these two lovable pigs Buster and Chloe needed a place to go, NAC came to the rescue with a foster home.
Laura, a holistic vet from Bozeman, Montana had been looking for two pigs to complete her family (yes, most people just get married…). Laura heard about Buster and Chloe and figured it was fate! Two volunteers loaded up a Subaru station wagon with the two pigs and met Laura half way in Idaho Falls for the pig exchange.
Laura was overjoyed to meet her new kids! Even her Corgi wasn’t phased by the new additions. Laura had sliced up some fresh fruit as a treat and brought out all the new toys… then they were off into the sunset on their way to hog heaven. No pun intended.
If anyone was ever on the fence about fostering, we need you now more than ever. Dogs, cats, puppies, kittens or pot-bellied pigs - they all need a place to call temporary home, until they can find their forever home.

Fiona - Everyone always asks, “How can you bottle feed, don’t you get attached?” Although I always try to play it cool, it’s time to come clean and confess… you bet I do! Even though I get no sleep and they never go to the bathroom when and where I want them to, I love them with all my heart. I feel extremely protective when anyone comes calling to take my babies away, and I’m filled with a sense that I’m the only person in the world they know and they might think I’m abandoning them.
Most recently, I bottle fed a puppy I named Fiona. She’s a Shepherd mix who grew like a weed. When it came time to find her a home, I had been talking with a family in Idaho Falls. If you ask the right questions, you get a feel for the folks on whether or not they size up for your baby. I let Fiona go with the White family in late March and we have stayed in contact since.
Lin (the Mom) keeps me upated on Fiona’s escapades. Since she left my loving embrace, Fiona has been carried on hikes in a baby carrier, told bedtime stories and falls asleep listening to special Indian music (which she loves!). She eats ice cubes on the air conditioning vent if she’s too hot, has children who play with her and a Dad who adores her (he is the one that tells her bedtime stories). She has graduated puppy kindergarten with flying colors and got her own Easter basket with treats. She has traveled with them on family camping trips and to the cabin. Basically, I think she’s doing better than I am! I cried the day she left, but I know she will never be alone and will get the love and attention she deserves. I will always be grateful to the White family… they have filled my heart with joy.

I haven’t stopped bottle feeding. If you think you can live up to the 3rd degree from me and you are looking to add to your family, give me a call!
