Adoptable Dogs

The following are just a few of the dogs that we currently have in foster care. Why is foster care better than a shelter environment? Each foster parent gets to know the dog and learn their behaviors. This enables each of our dogs to get individualized care and attention, as well as helps to ensure a successful adoption. Can’t find the pet you are looking for? See a more complete list of our animals HERE or call 208-429-6600.

Each of our dogs have an adoption fee of $75.00. All of them are either spayed/neutered or we will include one in their adoption packet. They are also current on vaccines.

Goldy Goldie

My name is Goldie! I was named for my beautiful, wavy, golden hair. I am a mix of terrier and something wonderful, and have a nice beard to prove it. About 4 years ago, when I was only six months old, I lived on the streets in a neighborhood. I found my dinner in trashes, and shelter underneath shrubs. I learned how to survive on my own. That was before I was rescued by volunteers at Northwest Animal Companions. I was taken to a foster home, and lived there with another dog, and kitties. I started to learn how to trust people, even though sometimes I have to check them out for awhile, first. But I love the people that are closest to me, that I know well. I love going for walks, or running in an open field, and I could have my belly rubbed for hours. I went to a training class, and decided I loved to learn! I’d someday love to graduate with a degree in higher education–I know I’m capable of it. I’m very smart, and like to keep myself busy by chewing on bones, playing with treat balls, sniffing, or romping around with the cats I live with, now. But I don’t like to be left alone all day. I get bored, and like a lot of attention. I’m still a little shy and scared in new places, or around new people and pets. Life threw my foster parent a curve ball, and it’s time for me to find a permanent home. I really need someone who wants to spend time helping me gain confidence, and who wants a best friend. I have so much love and affection to give to that special person. I do have a lot of energy, and I’m a fairly big girl (about 70 lbs.) and might be too much for very young children, and I do like most other dogs, (as long as I feel safe when we’re introduced, and as long as they don’t try to eat my food). So, if you’re interested in meeting me, please call my foster mom, Nina, at 363-9579. With a little polishing, I can show you my bright, unique self!

Roxy Roxy

Roxy is an 8 month old kid loving, ball chasing, food gobbling Pitbull pup who just wants to play and lick your face. Luckily Roxy didn’t come from a bad background, she just needs someone to take the time to work and stimulate her the way dogs need. She loves to chew her rawhide and play games. Roxy listens closely and loves to be rewarded for good behavior. She was described as an “absolute love…on Red Bull”! A high energy dog- she will require plenty of fun and exercise and must be an indoor, part of the family type dog.

Better off with no cats- but can probably be trained to quit chasing them- she’s very smart.

Looking for a good time? Roxy is your girl! Female, Spayed, 8 months old 012808 Contact Gina: ginaschafer@gmail.com.

Syrup Syrup

This is just a sad situation. Syrup’s family of 8 years has to give him up as they are highly allergic to him and it’s steadily gotten worse. They primarily kept him outside but went out often to play with him and took him with when they went on outings. They just can’t have him inside a lot. The problem is, when Syrup is left outside alone, he barks. He wants to be inside with his family- they all want that but it’s just not possible. The neighbor is getting so irate with the barking that the family tried bringing him in the house but their allergies flared up too much. They are torn up over it. We want to help them find a really nice home for Syrup. He will come with all of his gear. Syrup is very sweet- hence the name! He’s not an overly “squishy” dog- but calm and affectionate and just playful enough. He’s a cool dude. What he really wants is human affection. He’s eager to please and minds really well, plus he’s good with kids. We aren’t sure about cats- he’s never been around them. This mellow guy would make a great companion for someone- could that someone be you? Golden Lab/ German Shepherd mix, about 65 lbs. Neutered, up to date on shots CONTACT: ginaschafer@gmail.com

Bo Bo

Meet big old lovable Bo!! Bo is a Pyrenees/ Retriever mix and just an all around wonderful, mellow, sweet dog. He was left behind in the yard when his owners left the state- we can’t believe anyone would leave this guy! He lives for affection and is good with other dogs and loves kids. Bo is- as Garfield would say- not fat but under tall! He’s in a wonderful foster home and they are helping him slim down so he can be the best he can be. Are you looking for a calm yet playful middle aged sweetheart to add to your family? Here he is! About 110 lbs, neutered and vaccinated- about 8 years old. Contact Gina - ginaschafer@gmail.com.

Roxy Roxy (Lab mix)

Meet Roxy- this 2 year old darling is a real people lover and wants to be near her humans as much as possible. She doesn’t mind kids but would do better with either calm ones or kids around 5 or older. This is a smart girl- she knows her basic commands and is working on many others. A Lab/ Border Collie mix, she will fetch all day long if she could and tends to follow her nose so she needs a fenced yard! Roxy seems to warm up to women faster than men which seems typical for many dogs. With her energy, she would make a great exercise buddy. She is living in a very rural area at the moment- not only does she love to be around horses, she doesn’t even chase the chickens! What a good girl she is. A bit protective of her home, that’s the only time she’s been heard barking. House trained and crate trained, this girl is coming along very nicely! Though Roxy gets along well with other dogs, she doesn’t like to share her food with them- but that’s an easy fix. Lab/Border Collie Mix- spayed, vaccinated- about 40 pounds.

Libby Libby

Libby is an 18 month old pit bull. She is very gentle, loves children and anyone who will cuddle her and give her attention. She has a medium energy level and very rarely jumps up. She is good with cats that like her, the ones that don’t she is scared of and runs away. She has lived outside most of her life with other dogs and gets along great with new dogs. She misses her family and has a little abandonment anxiety, but is getting better. She is now house trained, but sometimes doesn’t like to go outside for potty time because she is away from you, so you might need to accompany her for a while. She is learning her commands, but comes when called and does not dart when she is not on a leash. She also does well on a leash. She does not chew and has good manners in the house when left alone. She loves to be inside with you and would make a great pet for a family with kids. She is about 30 - 35 pounds and is pretty small for her breed. She needs to gain a couple more pounds to be where she needs to be but is a great size. With those eyes, who can resist!

Our Mission...

...is to provide a no-kill animal sanctuary, education, spay and neuter services, and adoptions.

Our Vision...

...is that every animal is treated responsibly with compassion and respect, and that society no longer accepts euthanasia as a form of population control.

We believe our Vision can be realized when the mindset that companion animals are disposable changes, people make informed decisions when committing to a pet and large-scale spay and neuter programs are in place.
