Born in Canada, Nina Trenwith spent her childhood traveling with her British parents. Her father, a private chef to a billionaire, took his family everywhere he went, be it exotic locales such as Bermuda or the Bahamas or more average places like the California. During their many travels, Nina’s father entertained her with stories of animals. In his fantastic tales, he told of the families, friends, and dreams that filled the lives of his made-up critters, and through these stories, he taught Nina to love and respect all creatures. She grew up with not only admiration for her father, but a deep devotion to animals.
As an adult, Nina strived to find a career that fulfilled her the way her father’s profession impassioned him. Once she began helping animals, she knew she had found her calling. Now working part-time at The Cat Doctor and as a full-time animal advocate with NAC since 1999, Nina believes she knows how her father feels. And we at NAC are lucky she does.

Merritt Dublin and her husband moved to Boise, Idaho from Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2005. Joining NAC as a volunteer in February of 2006, Merritt was impressed by the mission and dedication of all of its Board members and volunteers and joined the Board in August of 2006. She is currently a fulltime stay-at-home mom to her 2-year-old daughter, Lacey Rose. The Dublin family also includes a former foster – now adopted – NAC dog Hank and a relatively constant stream of NAC kittens that need foster care.
Born and raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico, Merritt started riding horses at the age of 9 and showed horses competitively until leaving for New Mexico State University where she received her undergraduate degree. After a three-year stint working as a case worker in the mental health field, she moved to Tucson to attend law school at the University of Arizona. Before leaving the professional world to raise her daughter Lacey, Merritt practiced as a lawyer in primarily commercial litigation for 8 years in Phoenix and managed the Child Protective Services Section of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office for two years. She is licensed to practice in Idaho but plans to remain on “sabbatical” for the immediate future, except for the pro bono work she does for NAC as the need arises.
NAC’s vision of the world – that every animal is treated responsibly and with compassion and respect – is one that Merritt has lived and dreamed her whole life. She says, “I am honored to work with such a dedicated group that shares my beliefs.”
Positions held: Board Member, Spay & Neuter Coordinator Arin Arthur has two passions: art and animals. She has works as a graphic designer, a textile designer, and, since 2004, as the Coordinator for NAC’s Spay & Neuter Program, a volunteer position she cherishes.Growing from a child patiently holding peanuts to feed the squirrels into an active animal welfare advocate, Arin is a mix of creativity, sensitivity, and professionalism that allows her to not only organize and oversee the Spay & Neuter Clinic, but also foster cats and kittens in need, train volunteers for the Clinic, and sit on NAC’s Board of Directors.Arin’s quest into the realm of animal welfare began ten years ago when she discovered a day-old kitten in her office parking lot. This baby, who would have died without Arin’s care, became the first in a long, long line of animals who have been helped by Arin’s dedication and drive. Betsy is still with her and assists her in welcoming and comforting the lives entrusted to them.To feed her artistic side, Arin designs and produces her own line of silk scarves, Arin Arthur Textiles. Her designs have been accepted in the most prestigious shows in the country, and she sells her work in boutiques from coast to coast.
