About Us

In 1998, inspired by a conference held at Best Friends in Kanab, Utah, Jan Zimmerman joined Matt Howard and Lynn Fritchman to establish Northwest Animal Companions here in Boise. A small group of volunteers began helping the Valley’s animals while looking for land to establish a Sanctuary.

As the organization grew, it became more and more apparent that large scale programs such as foster care, low cost spay/neuter clinics and mobile adoptions were necessary to reach the goal of the no-kill sanctuary.

NAC has since grown to a level where these programs have changed the face of our community. Now that the land is a reality, join the journey to bring them “Almost Home.”

Our Mission...

...is to provide a no-kill animal sanctuary, education, spay and neuter services, and adoptions.

Our Vision...

...is that every animal is treated responsibly with compassion and respect, and that society no longer accepts euthanasia as a form of population control.

We believe our Vision can be realized when the mindset that companion animals are disposable changes, people make informed decisions when committing to a pet and large-scale spay and neuter programs are in place.
